Facial Nerve and TMJ Treatment

What is Facial Nerve Therapy?

Treatment of facial palsy conditions, such as Bell’s palsy involves using normal movement patterns and controlling movements that have to be relearned by the brain. As the movement patterns are relearned, practice will lead to improvement in strength and facial function using mirror training.

Treatment may involve soft tissue massage, retraining muscles and nerves to respond to the brain’s requests, therapeutic exercise, and patient education.

What is TMJ Disorder?

The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is a joint located at the top of the jaw on both sides. TMJ Disorder is an umbrella term covering all types of pain, inflammation, and restrictions in the mouth and TMJ. The disorder can result in significant headache, eating impairment, and dysfunction.

Treatment may involve moist heat, ultrasound, iontophoresis, specialized hands-on techniques, therapeutic exercise, and patient education.
